How SMEs can benefit from a visit to STEAMhouse

This November Made in Group members will have the chance to tour the esteemed manufacturing facility STEAMhouse, powered by Birmingham City University (BCU). The factory tour will be accompanied by a breakfast networking morning with business leaders from the Made in Group membership.

BCU, patron of Made in the Midlands, will be opening the doors to STEAMhouse on 23rd November 2022 an event exclusively for Made in Group members. Industry professionals can expect the opportunity to network with fellow Made members and enjoy breakfast refreshments.

What makes this networking event special is the chance for businesses, especially SMEs, to find out more about the brand new STEAMhouse facility and how it can help solve their manufacturing challenges.

As a thought leader for STEM, science, technology, engineering and arts, BCU has created a hub for these four interdisciplinaries which also includes mathematics to allow students and businesses to solve challenges together.

“Our principles for STEAM are; approaching problems and challenges with an open-mind set where every contribution is valued equally; following a facilitated interdisciplinary approach and; combining analytical and creative perspectives.”

The STEAMhouse innovation centre aims to combine sectors to find the best solutions, creating tremendous opportunities for businesses and start ups in the West Midlands and beyond. As a collective it is a community of business experts, innovators, disrupters, thought leaders, design practitioners, academics, SMEs, large organisations, and corporate firms, who join together to drive business growth and overcome commercial and societal challenges through collaborative innovation.

After the opening of STEAMhouse in May 2022, the facility already includes modern office and work spaces, meeting rooms, CNC workshops, 3D printing facilities, welding areas, VR testing and much more. Businesses who decide to take part in their services have access to these facilities and the opportunity to collaborate with students and experts. If needed, SMES can also rent office space at STEAMhouse, in the heart of Birmingham, for £150.
