The Made in Group is delighted to announce a new strategic partnership with Jonny Williamson, an experienced and accomplished manufacturing journalist.

Jonny, former Editorial Director of The Manufacturer, has worked as a content creator covering the industry sectors for more than a decade. He has written for and overseen the production of numerous publications covering manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, supply chain and business leadership.

"Jonny brings a wealth of experience and first-class editorial judgement within the manufacturing space. We are excited to work with Jonny; we also think his presence and contributions will help inspire some of our younger team members,” said Jason Pitt, CEO of the Made in Group.

Jonny is widely regarded as a go-to person for industry insight and analysis, and frequently interviews business owners and their executive teams, global technology leaders, academics and government ministers.

He has a keen interest in technology, innovation and sustainability, and what happens when the three come together.

As Contributing Editor for the Made in Group, Jonny will be producing a regular range of member-led articles, including case studies, company profiles and unpacking the Westminster announcements that impact you.

He will also be attending and rounding up the key takeaways from Made in Group networking events such as the Virtual Breakfast Mornings and the Backing Britain 3.0 conference.

Jonny Williamson commented: “Yorkshire and the Midlands account for more than 25 percent of total UK manufacturing output. The vital importance of industry in these two regions to both local communities and the national economy cannot be overstated.

“Globally and domestically, manufacturing businesses are being routinely tested by long-standing issues such as a shortage of skills and government support and new challenges in the case of the pandemic and its far-reaching effects.

"Overcoming such challenges relies on greater collaboration and knowledge sharing and having the voice of industry heard clearly by policy makers. I’m looking forward to speaking with members and doing my part to help celebrate and promote truly world-leading businesses.”

Coinciding with Jonny’s arrival, the Made in Group are excited to launch a new quarterly survey to better understand and reflect the experiences, strategies and concerns of our members.

Each survey will also drill down into one of the UK manufacturing sector’s greatest challenges, from achieving net zero and attracting future talent to expanding international trade and adopting new technologies.

The first of these surveys will open shortly and the results will be published at the end of Q1 2022.
