On Tuesday 17th November at 11:15am, Made in Group hosted a 45-minute "Made Masterclass" via Zoom, providing members with practical best practice for "Transitioning to Automation".

What makes Made Masterclasses stand out is that they are manufacturing and engineering specific. Made in the Midlands and  Made in Yorkshire members aren't given a one size fits all knowledge, but instead, they are offered tailored best practice which is most effective for people in your industry.

Back in August 2020, Made in Group held a Virtual Roundtable, for thought leaders on "Smart Manufacturing" to discuss some common challenges and barriers to success in this topic. Client confusion and alienation stemming from jargon-based, “heavy” and technical language such as “Industry 4.0” itself, was cited as a major issue by many.

It was raised that, whilst some companies may suffer from conservative, inflexible and self-proclaimed “technophobe” leaders at the top - many other are unsurprisingly very keen to learn, but become disillusioned by the wealth of terms and lofty ideas, which are often foregrounded at the expense of tangible benefits when promoting “Industry 4.0”.

To progress this important conversation further, some thought leaders from the topic gave their insight on the following two questions:

1. What is the first step for manufacturers to move towards automation / digital?

2. How have you implemented this and how has it increased your efficiencies?

Thank you to Bauromat, Total Control Pro, Plus Automation, MCS Control Systems and Comau for providing an excellent insight into this topic.

For those who weren't able to join for this "Transitioning to Automation" Made Masterclass - here is a roundup of the content:
