A virtual exhibition which includes over 200 industry-specific exhibitors and 26 events has taken the industry by storm as over 1300 attendees join in the first day. Beginning on the 17th August until 28th, so far the mammoth event has included keynotes speeches from the likes of industry leaders such Graeme Hackland, CIO of Williams Formula 1 and Janet Mui Investment Director at Brewin Dolphin.

Around the globe, over 31,000 exhibitions are held each year allowing manufacturers and other businesses to promote and build relationships with potential customers, many in the manufacturing industry rely on this kind of product or service promotion in order to capture major leads. However, due to the current situation surrounding COVID-19, exhibitions have pretty much come to a complete halt and thus have had massive effects on businesses.

Trade Association The Made in Group is creating virtual history with Backing Britain Live - a two-week virtual exhibition. The idea came about after the current COVID 19 pandemic means the majority of trade shows were closed.

At the core of the event is the exhibitor stands packed full of information about the companies and the chance to chat live to staff. The 3D stands bring about a life-like aspect to the exhibition, making it interactive and innovative.

The event so far has seen the likes of Graeme Hackland CIO of Williams F1 take to the virtual stage to share with delegates the ways in which they back Britain, by applying their sports drive technology to other businesses and their products. Graeme spoke about how they have worked with the likes of Airbus and Brompton Bike. Over 100 guests attended the event, many of which found the event “interesting and engaging.”

With events like this every day for the next two weeks, guests have the opportunity to gain insightful best practice from some of the biggest industry names in the UK. The second day of the event housed Janet Mui Investment Director at Brewin Dolphin as one of its keynote speakers. Her speech focused on the economic outlook for the UK and the rest of the globe regarding manufacturing, with a specific focus on the impact of supply chains.

Networking and sharing best practice is a major part of manufacturing in order to drive the business forward, this is also covered in the two-week event with “Virtual Drinks” every weekday at 3 pm. This incorporates the tactile aspects of physical events where exhibitors and delegates can build relationships.
