The Importance of Recognising Our Manufacturing Heroes In “Real Life” Social Events

Made in Group, split by it’s Midlands and Yorkshire members regions, has now completed the first round of in-person, Manufacturing Heroes awards.

The first of these was held in Wolverhampton’s private Cosmo Bonsor pub, seeing Made in the Midlands members come together - many of which for the first time in over a year - to celebrate the hard work and achievements that companies within the group have been through during the pandemic.

In a similar format, the most recent of these social events was held at Leeds Malmaison hotel, for members of Made in Yorkshire to enjoy refreshments and connect with one another in “real life”.

As can be seen below, all of the nominated Manufacturing Heroes were given a pin badge, alongside an aviation and moment of recognition, alongside the fellow industry leaders within their local manufacturing community.

Speaking on continuing the undoubted benefits of digital networking, with a much-needed return to in-person events, Made in Group CEO Jason Pitt has said: “It's been a long year, but I'm pleased to say we are gearing up to host even more face to face events in addition to our digital networking. At the same time, I believe the future will blend digital and in-person. Some people enjoy the productivity gains made during the pandemic, whilst others see it as digital monotony and want a total return to how things were before the pandemic.

Whilst some advanced their tech proficiency, others have gained a disdain for all things tech; I believe it's helpful to untangle the pressures of the pandemic with the tech itself.

The digital connectivity not just in work but in our personal lives was a digital lifeline; there are massive productivity gains in this space for those who can adapt.”

Ultimately, since the pandemic began, and through necessity to keep the community connected which Made in Group has built over many years, we have delivered more than 100 online events, produced two large printed books, and developed a virtual expo platform. Despite these tech advancements, there is of course a need to meet face to face and we see the future as a hybrid, incorporating the productivity gains of online with the need to be social, in “real life”.
