The Made in Yorkshire best practice meeting at Additive X on the 15th February was a remarkable event that brought together some of the leading figures in the additive manufacturing industry and members of the made community. The event was held in the scenic location of Ripon at Additive-X newly refurbished facility where members were met with a warm welcome and fantastic hospitality. Jason Pitt, Made in Group said; “We were also delighted to see some Midlands members make the trip, making this a national and inclusive event that promotes some of our members in Yorkshire.”

Jason added, “Our next Yorkshire event will be held at Unison in Scarborough, we’ve tried to mix up events so that we stretch beyond the obvious densely populated areas to somecase of the rare gems that are located though the region.

“From this year the Made team encouraged members to visit events nationally and support the group in addition to the virtual events. “

Jo Young, Managing Director, Additive-X said, “We are choosing to work with technology that is accessible and affordable, our printers range from 2k -250k, we focus on sales support and consultation and we also have a ‘3D printing as a service’ offering

“We are growing the printing as a service side of the business, we call it a ‘digital parts factory’. Our goal is to both operate our own digital parts factory and enable others to create their own mini parts factories. We are also getting into scanning and reverse engineering so we can explore how to reduce your carbon emissions, instead of buying components from far away, the ability to print on demand and locally. There's also less waste, you only use what you need, 3D printing is not a subtractive process.”

The event kicked off with a introductions form the Made team, company introduction from Jo Young and a round robin with members who all introduced themselves and their businesses, Jo, spoke about the company's vision and strategy for the future of additive manufacturing, she highlighted the importance of collaboration and innovation in the industry, and he stressed the need for companies to embrace new technologies and processes in order to stay competitive in the global marketplace.

Following the introductions and breakfast there was a tour of the Additive-x facility.
