On Tuesday 12th April, members of Made in Group attended a Masterclass hosted by Fluid IT Consulting, titled "Digital Solutions for Manufacturers".
Members of both Made in the Midlands and Made in Yorkshire attended this event held on Zoom, hearing a presentation from Chris Allport (Fluid’s Business Development Manger) alongside Josh Newham (Power Platform Developer) before being given the opportunity to ask questions.
Having become Made in Yorkshire Patrons this year, Fluid help businesses work out what technology can do for them. The Leeds-based company work with and alongside companies to deliver IT and digital technologies services, whether that's for business growth, expansion into new markets, improvements in quality and efficiency, or digitalising customer experiences.
The motivation behinds this event stemmed from the idea that buying a new system can be extreme in terms of cost and the impact on people, processes and training requirements. Therefore, custom digital solutions are a lower risk, faster and more affordable way to improve your existing technology and extend the life of core systems.
In this masterclass, Chris Allport, would demo three solutions. There are lots of different options available, however, for this presentation Chris focused on the Power Platform technology stack, for the simple reason that businesses with Microsoft 365 already have access to it.
The three solutions that Chris went into detail on here were the following:
- PowerBI – data visualisation and real-time reporting
- Power Automate – digitalise manual office processes
- Power Apps – custom solutions that can rapidly add value e.g. digitalise a production sheet
