By Jason Pitt, CEO of the Made in Group
There's something about Mondays, some people love them, and for some, it's a long wait for the weekend.
Over the last week, a couple of meetings inspired me; firstly, I met up with Lord Whitby, who found a few old newspapers I had produced from my days at Business Report. I was delighted to be reunited with this publication; it reminded me of our early mission. This newspaper went back to 2009 and was one of the earliest newspapers from the old 'Made in the Midlands Campaign' as it was known.
We have created arguably the most advanced digital platform of any membership association in recent years, certainly in the UK.
I was also pleased to meet Absar Younis from RF PLC, Bradford, who did fantastic work during the pandemic.
Just returning to the newspaper article pictured alongside my post reminded me of all of the people who have been part of the Group's success. I can see early supporters in this newspaper, including James Lister & Sons, Twente Express, and Fourmasters Malthouse; many are still involved today.
Also, in the early days of Made in Yorkshire, Ian Brown and Matt helped steer some of our early traction.
Made in Group had ten years of unbroken growth and success; this pandemic without question hit us hard; however, the people who continued to support us were fuel to keep faith in what we are doing.
So for me, Monday is the start of a new week; we rebuild, but we will do so with energy and belief.
As we renew a successful model, I wanted to reflect and show some gratitude to the people who work at Made in Group, past members of staff who helped create the foundation of the Group and our members past and current.
While our business may be different to yours, I think it's almost universal that we started our companies or developed them for a reason; reconnecting with this cause is the shortest path to success. What is your ethos, and why do you do what you do? If we reconnect with this, then we can all love Mondays!
