On Wednesday 17th February 2021, PPG Architectural Coatings UK hosted a Virtual Breakfast Morning event with members of Made in Yorkshire.
Made in Yorkshire's landmark Virtual Breakfast Mornings give industry leaders an opportunity to network, learn best practice and make business changing connections.
Based in Birstall, West Yorkshire, PPG Architectural Coatings manufactures and delivers a total range of coating solutions from Decorative Paints, Woodcare, External Wall Insulation and Render systems to high performance Protective Coatings and Flooring through an extensive portfolio of leading brands (e.g. Johnstone’s Trade and Leyland Trade), all of which have applications in the Manufacturing sector.
PPG AC UK, who are a long-standing Gold member of Made in Yorkshire, had Production Group Leader Kevin Gallacher deliver an insightful presentation to all in attendance.
As part of the presentation, Kevin delivered information regarding what PPG stand for and how the company operates. PPG is a global company with operations in over 70 countries throughout the world.
Of this global operation, there are two main segments to the business. 60% of this makes up Performance Coatings (including the likes of Architectural Coatings), with the other 40% being made up of Industrial Coatings.
The head office of PPG Architectural Coatings UK is based in West Yorkshire, featuring a 32,000 square meter warehouse. Delivering a brief overview of the premesis, Kevin even told a story of how former Premier League footballer Eric Cantona signed for Leeds in the companies reception back in the late 1990s!
Attendees were also given insight on the variety of commonity and charity work that PPG take part in. Alongside this, attendees learned of how PPG AC UK responded to the Covid-19 pandemic; "ensuring continued support for our customers and celebrating the extraordinary efforts of our colleagues".
Following on from the presentation, attendees were sent off into smaller "Breakout Rooms" to network, socialise and discuss common challenges and solutions regarding current UK industry trends. Attendees are typically sent into 15-minute breakout groups consisting of 4-5 members each.
